Thorsen Kursél’s fictional portraits are created on his android smart phone with the rudimentary drawing app Sketch. Drawing only with his finger and a limited palette of lines and color, the portraits are meditations on the personalities the artist has known, seen, or imagined. The drawings, which are not altered post-production, express a deep seated unease surrounding culture heroes contrasted with an oversized admiration and desire for cultural status and power.
